Fonts, colors, and overall layout style for the whole site -- not just the homepage. George Washington University's own colors/fonts are the default.
Picking a preset fills in the color pickers below, which stay editable for a fully custom scheme. Whichever colors are set here apply regardless of the visitor's system light/dark preference.
"Auto" (the default) widens the layout and scales up text/grids only on genuinely large screens (roughly 1600px and wider, e.g. a conference-room display) -- a visitor's own laptop or desktop is unaffected either way. "Always on" applies regardless of screen size; "Off" never applies.
Sits fixed behind every page's content at a low opacity, as texture rather than a photo competing with the foreground. "Hue rotate" shifts the image's colors (0° = unchanged) so it can be tuned to sit behind the current color scheme.
Every list/grid section (News, Publications, Research, Open Positions, People, Join the Lab, Alumni quotes...) sits on this color and corner style, so each reads as its own panel against the page background -- especially useful with a background image set above.
The fixed top navigation bar shown on every page.
Shown in the upper-left of the fixed header, before the University name. "GWU Seal" is the default.
Which sections and pages show on the homepage and in the top menu, and in what order -- below the hero, above the footer on the homepage; left to right in the top menu.
Research, Publications, People, News, and every custom Page also have a dedicated standalone page. "Teaser" controls whether the section shows on the homepage; "Standalone page" controls whether the top menu links straight to its own page instead. Both can be on, either alone, or neither (the page itself still exists, just unlinked). "Contact Us" always renders last in the top menu regardless of its position here.
Hero, stats strip, and the "Join the lab" section's fixed text.
The cards shown in the "Current research" grid.
Controls how research areas are displayed on both the homepage teaser and the full Research page.
How strongly the background darkens/tints when hovering a clickable research item in List view. 0 = no background change, 12 is the default.
On-site publication list -- the latest 3 also show as a teaser on the homepage (see Selections and Order).
Roster entries. Check "Featured" to also show someone as a mentor card in the People section.
Controls the same setting as the "People (teaser)" row in Page layout -- the roster and full featured-member grid always stay available on the dedicated People page regardless.
"Title"/"Subtitle" are shown on both the People page (Faculty/Postdoc/PhD list) and the All People page.
Dated announcements.
The three benefit cards on the hiring section.
Current openings listed on the hiring section.
Short testimonial cards. Only use real quotes from alumni who've agreed to be named.
The closing "Don't see the right fit listed?" call-to-action box shown at the bottom of the homepage.
Either way, clicking an email link copies the address to the visitor's clipboard and shows a confirmation message, rather than trying to open a mail app.
Custom pages (e.g. "Teaching") -- each gets its own URL and nav link, built from simple blocks (heading, rich text, image).
Site-wide links and the shared admin password.
Used for every "Google Scholar" link on the site (Publications section, footer link).
